Want to know what your house is valued at?
Keep in mind Insurance companies deal in Replacement costs, not market value, not tax value.
Example: If you have 3 identical houses. One in a nice suburban area, one in the worst part of the inner city and one out on Lake Minnetonka
The tax value would be different on all three houses because the house taxes are not just about the house but also the aesthetics of the area (Lakeshore).
The market value would be different as well. The city home in a bad area could be half the value of the suburbs and the Lake home could be twice the value of the suburban home. But if each of those houses were to burn to the ground it would cost the same amount to rebuild each of the locations as the material and labor costs would be the same in a close proximity.
